Everyone calls me Amber. As you know, I am the hostess and “Puppet Master” and am in charge of communicating with our audience. The owners (the K.C.’s) are a quiet and private couple who prefer to maintain a simple life. He is a writer and filmmaker and she is an artist. Years ago they began adopting companion animals from shelters, rescue groups and helping to find homes for some of the stray cats who would show up on the porch of their 1920s bungalow in a historic North Carolina neighborhood. To help subsidize their lofty goals of “no more homeless pets”, they decided to launch Code Creations.
While vacationing in Colorado they came across very beautiful organic cotton, bamboo and hemp T-Shirts that anyone would love to wear. Except for one thing. All of the shirts had boring prints of simple slogans or words on them, such as “Harmony” and “Earth,” and “Peace” and so on. They realized then that the designers of those shirts were essentially “preaching to the choir.” They realized that most people would never wear shirts with “positive words” or simplistic eco-slogans on them. Most people want cool, cutting edge designs that express their personalities and interests.
Realizing that having hundreds or thousands of T-Shirts sitting in an empty warehouse wasn’t the most ecological thing to do, the owners decided to print apparel based only on the demand for each and to have a constant turn over. As a result, Code Creations will always offer new, exciting Designs.
They then realized it would be a lot more fun to have a community of artist and T-Shirt Design lovers hanging out together, judging what designs would be the most popular and worth printing.
As artists themselves, they were particularly interested in helping other artists get the recognition they deserve. Despite the fact that it would add to their costs, they decided that — with the artists’ permission — they would promote them on the sleeve of all T-Shirts that had their Designs on the front.
Despite the fact that there is a propensity to charge more for earth-friendly apparel, the owners decided to keep the prices as low as possible, while also being able to sustain the business and keep it moving forward. After all, if the company doesn’t turn a profit, no one benefits. On the other hand, if it does well, then people get to hang out at an awesome website, communicate with incredible Designers, choose great art that’s worthy of being printed, Artists get an opportunity to profit from their hard work, and countless animals around the world can be rescued and adopted.
That is our story.
Our office, staff, suppliers, and all aspects of our business adhere to the proposition that all we do should be great for people and the planet. That includes making all efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle and lessen our carbon footprint on the earth while making a positive impact in the world.
Our mission is to empower our audience to support the arts, artists and take an interest in earth-friendly apparel and the welfare of animals.
It is our collective goal to make friends while promoting the most unique designs by the best designers in the world and print them on earth-friendly materials with non-toxic inks and offer them at a fair price while rewarding the artists for their contributions.
Every decision we make is an opportunity for us to express our values and is driven by an effort to make a positive difference. Simply put, we want to encourage the sale of earth-friendly apparel because that increases market demand, which lowers prices and encourages more people to take an interest in our apparel. As a result, we will continue to be able to donate a large % of each sale to animal welfare, rescue and adoption organizations.

Because we feel that Life is an Adventure, and that everyone should Wear Different!, our apparel will always be durable, high-quality and sustainable. After all, if people love the Designs and the apparel lasts, there is less of a chance it will end up in a landfill.
Our website will always be a destination where the audience can be part of a story. Our site will always be updated, memorable, zany, innovative, worth “discovering,” and worth sharing with friends and family.
We will measure our success by how many people appreciate our high-quality apparel, how many artists we are able to promote, and how many animals we are able to save through our donations.
